
If you have engine work in your future, this small specialty tool may be the most important one to have on hand. The flywheel lock is needed to capture and hold the crankshaft so that the forward crank nut can be loosened/tightened. Unlike other cars, this nut is torqued very high (over 180 ft-lbs) and that is needed to ensure the oil pump coupling sleeve doesn't slip. If it does, you will have loss of oil pressure which can be a quick end to a Porsche engine.
The forward crank nut needs to come off to service the waterpump or to change out the crank front main seal, balance shaft bearings & seals.
The lock includes the following features:
Fit and strength tested to over 200 ft-lbs.
Black oxide coating.
Fits all Porsche 944s using starter [951 604 101 00] (all 944s & 944 Turbos and 924S from 83 through 91)
Includes the needed hardware (to be used with your starter mounting bolts). This tool will not fit 968s
