Porsche 944 / 944 Turbo Flywheel Lock

If you have engine work in your future, this small specialty tool may be the most important one to have on hand. The flywheel lock is needed to capture and hold the crankshaft so that the forward crank nut can be loosened/tightened. Unlike other cars, this nut is torqued very high (over 180 ft-lbs) and that is needed to ensure the oil pump coupling sleeve doesn't slip. If it does, you will have loss of oil pressure which can be a quick end to a Porsche engine.

The forward crank nut needs to come off  to service the  waterpump or to change out the crank front main seal, balance shaft bearings & seals.
