920X belt tensioning tool (body, gauge, reference bars, attaching parts).
This 920X Kit is shown above - this kit features the 920X and with it, you can accurately and easily set the tension on both the cam and balance belts Note: this kit works for all models of 924S, 944. It can also work for the 968 but does not include instructions for use with the hydraulic tensioner that is part of the 968 engine.
The 920X is used for both the the cam belt and the your balance belt tension and the thin wrench is needed to alter the balance belt tension (it works for all offset rollers and idlers on the engine). And a small pin wrench needed to manipulate the engine's spring tensioner. With this kit you will NOT have to rely on the engines spring tensioner to correctly set the cam belt tension.

Important note: the 920X attaches to the cam belt separator bar. Some of the early cars (prior to 86) did not come with the separator bar. Many cars did get upgraded to use the new pump in the course of routine maintenance. I'm not sure the older version of the water pump is even sold anymore, except perhaps to unsuspecting buyers. Occasionally one still surfaces though. If you are not sure what you have on your engine, its best to check your engine before you buy the tool. Basically that means you have to remove the upper belt cover and get a peek at your pump. Here is a link to help you to identify the pump.
